Course Description
The Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher) is for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualification requirements.
Course Content
Unit 1: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
- Know how to conduct effective search procedures
- Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
- Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat.
- Know how to safeguard the public from incidents of spiking
- Know the implications of physical interventions and their use
- Know the risks associated with using physical intervention
- Know how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention
- Be able to proficiently and safely use physical skills to protect yourself and others
- Be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques safely

Assessments
- Practical and written assessments are observed and recorded by the Trainer throughout the course.
Pre-requisites
- Learners must be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
- We recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent. However, we acknowledge and embrace Viva-Voce (Verbal Assessments) for learners who may require additional support during assessment.
- If you believe changes may be needed to the course or its assessment due to a disability, please inform us as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before the start date. In most cases, this will provide us with sufficient time to assess your requirements and implement any necessary adjustments.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors e-certificate.
