Course Description

This 1-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) course covers key first aid skills needed when dealing with children. It equips learners with the skills and confidence to deal with paediatric first aid emergencies.

If they do not hold one of these paediatric first aid qualifications, they cannot be counted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)  staff-to-child ratios.

Please note: All early years providers must have at least one staff member per location, available at all times, who has completed the 2-day paediatric first aid qualification.

In addition to being suitable for childcare settings, this course is also ideal for parents or family members who wish to learn the basics of paediatric first aid.

Assessments

  • Practical assessments are observed and recorded by the Trainer throughout the course.

Pre-requisites

  • Learners must be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
  • We recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent. However, we acknowledge and embrace Viva-Voce (Verbal Assessments) for learners who may require additional support during assessment.
  • If you believe changes may be needed to the course or its assessment due to a disability, please inform us as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before the start date. In most cases, this will provide us with sufficient time to assess your requirements and implement any necessary adjustments.

Certification

Upon completion of this course, learners will receive a Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
