Course Description
This is a no-nonsense, dynamic, hands-on course, designed by AML Skills Ltd, specifically for those who need to act rapidly and confidently in the event of a traumatic incident. It is suitable for police, door supervisors, event stewards, or those who would like a little more confidence when managing high-pressure, dramatic first aid incidents until professional help arrives. This unique course focuses on the provision of effective trauma management in all environments, particularly in a hostile or tactical environment. This course exceeds the HSE’s standard requirements for those acting as a workplace first aider. It is also the ideal option to comply with Martyn’s Law.
Course Content
- The Role of the Emergency First Aider
- First Aid Priorities
- Basic Life Support
- Awareness of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Recovery Position
- Control of Bleeding inc. Catastrophic Bleeding
- Use Tourniquets - Wound dressings - Haemostatic dressings
- Burns
- Blast Injuries
- Eye Injuries

Assessments
- Practical assessments are observed and recorded by the Trainer throughout the course.
Pre-requisites
- Learners must be able to perform practical tasks at floor level.
- We recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent. However, we acknowledge and embrace Viva-Voce (Verbal Assessments) for learners who may require additional support during assessment.
- If you believe changes may be needed to the course or its assessment due to a disability, please inform us as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before the start date. In most cases, this will provide us with sufficient time to assess your requirements and implement any necessary adjustments.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a FASTaid© e-Certificate.
