Course Description
This regulated qualification has been specifically designed to develop and maintain the skills and knowledge required when supporting patients experiencing cardiorespiratory arrest or life-threatening illness or injury outside a hospital setting.
Our course is ideal for emergency ambulance personnel, event medics, registered healthcare professionals and those working in specialist roles within the emergency services and military.
It is also suitable for those providing emergency care or primary care to patients within the community, at work or as part of a voluntary activity.
Course Content
- Maintenance and use of emergency care equipment
- Assessing and managing an incident
- Managing a patient’s Airway
- Performing Immediate Life Support
- Decision making in resuscitation
- Managing a patient with suspected major illness
- This convenient One day course also includes 3 hours of guided study and the completion of a workbook.

Delivery Method
- Face to face (1 day in the classroom)

Assessments
- Practical assessments/skills tests will be observed by the Trainer throughout the course.
- A theory assessment/multiple-choice question paper will be administered during the course.
Pre-requisites
- Learners must be at least 18 years of age on the first day of training.
- Learners should already hold a pre-hospital care qualification, such as Level 4 First Response Emergency Care (equivalent or higher-level qualifications may also be acceptable, e.g., Associate Ambulance Practitioner, IHCD Ambulance Aid, or be a registered healthcare professional working in an emergency care or primary care environment).
- To benefit from the training, we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid.
- If you believe changes may be needed to the course or its assessment due to a disability, please inform us as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before the start date. In most cases, this will allow us enough time to assess your requirements and implement any adjustments.
Certification
Upon successful completion of this course, the Learner will receive an Ofqual-regulated Level 4 Award in Out-of-Hospital Adult Immediate Life Support (RQF) e-Certificate.
