Course Description
Mental Health First Aid training is not designed to teach you how to be a therapist, but it will teach you to recognise the most common issues people face with mental ill health and teach you how to listen, reassure and actively support those who are struggling.
This comprehensive Mental Health and Wellbeing course focuses on equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to identify, understand, and effectively help someone who may be experiencing mental ill health in the workplace and broader community.
Course Content
- Recognising possible signs and symptoms of a person who has mental ill-health or is suffering from stress
- Understanding Mental health and its stigma
- Using a Mental Health Plan to help those in crisis or need
- Finding external professional help and guidance
- The law in relation to mental health and the workplace
- Best practice when helping someone to stay in work or return to work, understanding of more complex mental health conditions
- Promoting well-being in the workplace and how you can become an Ambassador for Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Information on self-care to aid prevention, to help others and yourself

Assessments
- There is no assessment required for this course
Pre-requisites
- Learners must be at least 16 years of age on the first day of training.
- If you believe changes may be needed to the course due to a disability, please notify us as soon as possible, or at least two weeks before the start date. In most cases, this will provide us with sufficient time to assess your requirements and implement any necessary adjustments.
Certification
Upon completion of this course, learners will receive an FAIB Mental Health & Wellbeing certificate.
