The minimum legal requirement is to have an 'appointed person' (AP) to take charge of first aid arrangements in the workplace. This person does not have to be a trained and qualified emergency first-aider or first-aider, although many employers regard this as best practice.

Before you attend a course

Although our trainers will accommodate all learners, candidates attending the course must understand that there will be elements of both mental and practical work included on the course, and that everyone will be expected to participate.

Assessment & Certification

Learners will be continually monitored throughout, and awarded an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate upon completion of the course. The HSE recommend that all Emergency First Aiders at work attend a 3-hour Annual First Aid Refresher course, to ensure that they are up to date with procedures and to reduce the level of “skills fade”.

This module is designed for police officers and operational support staff who have direct contact with the public. This module is equivalent to the HSE 'Emergency First Aider at Work' standard. It focuses on the level of first aid identified by the HSE as the acceptable level for police officers and operational support staff. The learning addresses basic principles of first aid and deals with a wide range of medical situations that personnel may be expected to deal with.

Due to the nature of this course and the practical work involved, this course is delivered in the classroom only.
