Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the benefits of oxygen therapy.
- Identify indications for the use of oxygen.
- Understand contradictions prohibiting the use of oxygen.
- Understand dangers of using compressed gas.
- Administer oxygen using the required flow rate using a non re-breather mask, as well as a bag, valve and mask.
Assessment & Certification
Learners will be monitored throughout and awarded certification upon completion of the course. It is recommended that this qualification is refreshed annually, as stated by the UK Resuscitation Council. Attending a further half-day training course will renew certification.
Note: This course could also be combined with Automated External Defibrillator Training.
This course enables learners to administer oxygen safely and effectively, for casualties with breathing difficulties. Learners will be shown how and when to administer oxygen to a casualty and the safety concerns with carrying, storing and administering it.
This course is Ideal for first aiders working in remote areas, where the emergency services may take longer to arrive, or where the risk of fume inhalation is present.
Due to the short duration of this course and the practical work involved, this course is delivered in the classroom only.
